Being a parent when your kids get older
I read an interesting article the other day about what parents need to know about college drinking. This of course, is when a parent sends their kid of to college. The parents should be aware of the threats that come with college drinking. In this article, it discusses the fact that their is a task force being put together to make parents aware of college drinking and the epidemic that surrounds college campuses today. This article points out facts that drinking can influence your child's behavior while attending the college of their choice.

Single Moms
As a child I was raised by a single mother. I feel as though single mothers don't get the proper amount of respect that they deserve. There are a lot of Myths about single moms that need dispelled. One that they are all the same, single moms run all socio-cultural levels of society. Two that single moms had their babies in casual relationships. And most importantly that single mothers can't raise their kids as well as a couple could. I personally can attest to this one, I love my mom and I think she did an amazing job raising me. She worked two jobs and still found time to teach me how to be a good person. So this is me saying thank you to all the strong single moms out there.
It takes a village to raise a child there are no handbooks or study guides you can buy to help. Patience, love, understanding, and being firm in your beliefs will help guide you through the most difficult parts of raising a child. The rest is trial and error.

Kids always think parents just don't understand. To all the kids that feel this way I'm here to tell you we live it, seen it, and felt it. So yes we do understand.http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Do_parents_understand_children
My son birthday was on November 4, 2012. We celebrated his birthday at the house. My wife and I made his favorite meal, cheeseburger and french fries. When it was time to open his gifts my wife realize that she hid his presents in the closet that for some reason was stuck. I had to break the door with a hammer to get his presents out this is a true story. Crazy things parents do for their kids.

Life is hard, and moments are precious. Don't waste time sitting around feeling sorry for yourself. You have to live life. Smell the trees, look around observe, and don't pay attention to all the small things that can affect your attitude. These are some of the few things that I say to my kids.

Children are seeking the attention of their parents, for love, and understanding. Yes children are human beings with feelings and emotions, and as parents we must treat them as such.

I remember when I was a child every night at 10 p.m, parents looked for their children. The news always gave a reminder, it's 10' o clock do you know where your children are. Now a days kids get to hang out until the early morning, sometimes breaking day. My mother would of search until she found me, and when she did I know it wouldn't be to let me know I forgot my cellphone. I guess I grew up in a different era. Don't shelter your kids, but don't expose them to early. Watch what they watch; listen when they speak; don't let them get away with murder, because the courts won't.

Guidance counselor, Mentor, Role model, these are just a few jobs of parents. A parents job is never done. We work around the clock; no vacations, no sick pay. The only thing a parent has is hope. Hope your children hold your words close to their hearts as they grow. Hope they choice the right path in life.

Family is,
heaven sent from our father above,
bonded by the power of love.
No matter what family has each others back,
when push comes to shove.
Family is,
understanding, never demanding,
all for one and one for all,
I will never leave you alone standing.
Family is,
one in itself, my love is your love,
your pain is my pain, my wealth is your wealth,
I promise to never leave you by yourself.
Family is,
the strongest team, the strongest unit;
if love could be visualized,
family would be the blue print.
Family is,
forgiveness and patience,
it's sweeter than the sweetest fragrance,
the power of family is a reflection of Gods compassion and magnificence.
Family is,
never turning our back, and never shames,
lend my helping hand and not a finger pointing the blame.
No matter what a family bond can never be broken,
even through a nuclear explosion,
if one of us lives we all live.
Forever to eternity, we are family,
my father, my mother, my sisters and me.

Behind your shadow,
I stand and fall.
It’s a tough battle,
In which I feel so small.
My feelings toward you,
you might think are dumb.
Sad upset confused,
angry hurt and numb.
When I needed a mom,
you were not there,
to talk about boys,
or to fix my hair.
Yes, you did call,
every once and while,
but an ocean of tears,
hide behind this smile.
Tormented, trapped and torn,
my heart says I feel,
seven years after I was born,
my heart won’t start to heal.
I see other girls,
laugh with their moms,
I go dizzy with swirls,
and crash like a bomb.
The anger in me,
rages in fright,
always staying angry,
I just think I might.
Time heals everything,
I don’t think that’s true,
I know something,
time did not do.
Time has been flying,
for a long while,
I’ve always been trying,
to show a real smile.
One thing that hurts,
and I don’t know why,
you moved far away,
and it makes me cry.
When I think about this,
to myself I lie,
I’ve gotten over you,
that I would not try.
You are a mother,
a mother of two,
me and my brother,
we hardly know you.
Every night I think,
of how my life could’ve been,
tears run down my face,
and my world starts to spin.
These past few years,
have been really hard,
for the rest of my life,
I’ll be severely scarred.
It took me time to realize,
what you did to me,
tears in my eyes,
and you're clueless it seems.
I try to be brave,
it really hurts,
you could’ve stayed,
instead of making it worse.
I want you to know this,
it’s sad but it’s true,
you hurt your little girl,
and your little boy too!
You ruined me,
you made me cry,
you really hurt me,
and to laugh I try.
There is a hole in my heart,
the doctor’s don’t see.
I guess they don’t know,
what my mommy did to me.
If you want me back,
you have to prove,
you can be a mom,
to me and Andre too!
When I screamed for you,
did you hear a sound?
I guess you didn’t,
because you were never around.
I will tell you something,
you cannot forget,
once you hurt your kids,
it will soon come to regret.
I stand and fall.
It’s a tough battle,

1. Don't spoil me. I know quit well that I ought not have all that I ask for, I'm only testing you.
2. Don't be afraid to be firm with me, I prefer it. It makes me feel more secure.
3. Don't let me form bad habits, I have to rely on you to detect them in the early stages.
4. Don't make me feel smaller than I am, It only makes me behave stupidly big.
5. Don't correct me in front of people if you can help it.
6. Don't make me feel that my mistakes are sins, it upsets my set of values.
7. Don't be upset when I say "I hate you", it's not you I hate, but your power to hinder.
8. Don't protect me from consequences, I need to learn the painful way sometimes.
9. Don't nag, if you do I will need to protect myself by appearing deaf.
10. Don't make rash promises, remember I feel badly let down when promises are broken.
11. Don't tax my honesty too much, I am easily frightened into telling lies.
12. Don't be inconsistent, that completely confuses me and makes me lose faith in you.
13. Don't tell me my fears are silly, they are terribly real to me and you can do much to reassure me if you try to understand.
14. Don't ever suggest that you are perfect or infallible. It gives me to great a shock when I discover that you are neither.
15. Don't forget that I can't thrive without lots of love and understanding, but I don't need to tell you that, do I?

Children are a blessing sent from God above
For us to care and nurture and most of all to love.
God calls us to be parents and gives us all the tools
And when we feel like giving up, our strength He will renew.
Children are a gift from God that He so freely lends
To make it through the childhood years, on Him we must depend.
He must have a presence, you see it must take three
The parents, child and Christ at the center to be a family.
From childhood days to a child full grown
Their joys and hurts are a parent's own.
Times of joy and laughter and those times of tears
The times spent raising a child are surely the best of years.
There comes that time in life when a child will leave the nest
We must send them off with love and a prayer and leave to God the rest.
We've have shared the Word of God, we've taught them right from wrong
Now it's time to let them go and let them write their song.
The faith instilled, the examples lived, and the lessons taught
All gifts that we've given our child, which will never be forgotten.
There are many paths a child can take, right or wrong will remain unknown
But rest assured that in the end, they all lead back to home.

Kids are innocent. Parents need to protect their child innocence as long as they can. Don't expose your child to behavior they dont need to see.
Friday, September 7, 2012
kids need discipline and when I say discipline I don't mean corporal punishment. I mean parent's can't be afraid of the repercussions of their kids. Your kid should understand that there are rules and regulations in life and they have to follow those rules. A parent's job is to explain to their kids what rules are, and why they should follow them. This will help your child understand what you expect of them, and give you a way to use consistent discipline strategies. To read more about this check out modernmom.
Who's The Parent? |

I believe that parents are not taking their job serious anymore. Too many parents are allowing their kids to raise themselves. There's no family structure, eating dinner together, reading to your child, explaining to your child the importance of education and the importance of hygiene. What Happen To These Things?
